Fix https://{your domain}/app-ads.txt
Networks always request exactly https://{your domain}/app-ads.txt — the domain from your store listing. Here is how to make that URL return your file.
Test the exact URL
- Replace {your domain} with the developer website from Google Play / App Store — without paths, without “www.” if the listing has none.
- Open it in a private window: you must see plain text lines, not your website.
- Try both https:// and http://, with and without www — all should end on the file.
Fixes by symptom
- 404 — the file isn’t in the web root. Upload it next to index.html.
- Your home page shows up — a SPA / builder fallback. Add an exception for /app-ads.txt or use a redirect to a hosted file.
- Certificate error — renew or fix HTTPS for that exact host (including www).
- 403 / “checking your browser” — whitelist /app-ads.txt in your firewall or bot protection.
- Download prompt or garbled text — set Content-Type text/plain and save the file as UTF-8.
Can’t change the server? Host the file for free and redirect the URL to it.
